A delegation from the Council of Europe is visiting Georgia. They are checking if people’s human rights are being respected.

Bokuchava told reporters that the delegation had already said before arriving in Georgia that they do not want to give credibility to the current government. They are looking for evidence of torture and other bad treatment of people held by the government.
The visit is a way to show that the Council of Europe does not accept the current government as legitimate. Bokuchava said this policy should be followed, even if it’s uncomfortable for some people.
