Georgian Opposition Party Ready to Join Salome Zurabishvili’s Platform
The “United National Movement” party is willing to join a new political platform led by President Salome Zurabishvili. This was stated by Tina Bokuchava, the chair of the party, during an interview on Palitra News.
Bokuchava emphasized that decisions about unity should not be delayed. She pointed out that people have been protesting in the streets for 100 days and many have been imprisoned, going on hunger strike, and facing harsh treatment. The party believes that it is time for political forces to make a decision.
However, Bokuchava also mentioned a key difference between the “United National Movement” and President Zurabishvili. She noted that the President did not use her presidential pardon powers to free Mikheil Saakashvili from prison. This, according to Bokuchava, is a fundamental issue for the party.
Despite this disagreement, Bokuchava stated that the party is willing to put aside their differences and unite with Zurabishvili’s platform for the sake of Georgia‘s future.
