Former Minister of Defense Tina Khidasheli is planning to speak out against the government in a live debate on December 4. The debate will be held on the Public Broadcaster and will feature four former high-ranking officials, including Khidasheli herself.
According to Khidasheli, her goal is not to represent anyone else, but to represent herself and express her own views. She feels that she has already won a “first round” against the government by being invited to participate in the debate.
Khidasheli is critical of the current government, led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze. She believes that the government lacks legitimacy among the Georgian people and internationally. By participating in the debate, Khidasheli hopes to expose the government’s lies and give viewers a chance to hear a different opinion.
The Public Broadcaster has announced its willingness to host the debate, but it’s unclear what format it will take. Khidasheli has not been contacted by the broadcaster directly and is unsure of her role in the discussion.
In a statement, Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze invited people who are protesting against the government’s November 28 statement to participate in the discussion on December 4. Former ministers Mikheil Janelidze and Tina Khidasheli have expressed interest in participating, along with other former officials.
