**Opposition Leaders May Face Arrest, Warns Tina Khidasheli**
Tina Khidasheli, founder of “Civil Idea,” has expressed her concerns about the growing violence in Georgia. In an interview on PalitraNews’ program “360 Degrees,” she warned that opposition leaders and civil society activists may end up in prison.
Khidasheli stated that the government is showing a monopoly on unchecked violence. She believes that opposition party leaders and active members of the civil sector are at risk of being arrested without reason. According to her, this is not an insignificant matter, as dictatorship does not need a foundation – it can simply arrest people and send them to prison.
**Arrests Without Reason**
Khidasheli pointed out that the Administrative Offenses Code has an article about fines for not appearing before an investigative commission. However, she noted that the government is directly talking about criminal law, rather than imposing fines. She does not rule out the arrest of any leader of opposition or civil society organizations.
In fact, Khidasheli warned that the only tool left for the government is the demonstration of a monopoly on constant and unchecked violence. This can involve beating protesters, conducting mass raids, and imprisoning public figures.
**Dictatorship by Default**
Khidasheli also stated that the discussion about the unconstitutional declaration of “National Movement” and other opposition parties by Georgian Dream is an announcement of dictatorship. She added that the only partner that “Georgian Dream” has is intimidation.
According to Khidasheli, every step taken by Georgian Dream confirms that they are in panic and trying to stop society with fear. She believes that the government is afraid and trying to activate the repressive machine as much as possible.
