**European Parliament to Debate Georgia’s Election Results**
The European Parliament will hold a debate today on the results of Georgia’s parliamentary elections and Russia’s alleged interference. The parliament announced that the meeting was scheduled after all political groups agreed to change the agenda.
A statement from the European Parliament said: “Parliament expresses concern about democratic decline in Georgia. MEPs are discussing the results of disputed parliamentary elections in Georgia, including Russia’s alleged interference.”
**Thousands Protest in Georgia**
In October 2024, parliamentary elections were held in Georgia. The ruling Georgian Dream party won, but thousands of people took to the streets to protest against what they claimed was vote rigging by Russia. They demanded new elections and a proper investigation into the allegations.
**EU Concerned About Election Violations**
Representatives of 15 EU countries expressed deep concern about the situation in Georgia and condemned the violation of international standards of free and fair elections. The European Parliament also pointed out violations detected by international observers and called for a proper investigation.
**Vote on Resolution Scheduled**
MEPs will vote on a resolution at the plenary session on November 25-28. This is an important step towards addressing concerns about democracy in Georgia.
