Consultations with the opposition parties continue today regarding the composition of the “technical” government with President Salome Zurabishvili as well as the candidate for the post of prime minister.
Today, the leaders from the “Gakharia For Georgia” party will visit the Orbelian Palace to meet the president.
Consultations between the president and representatives of the opposition parties regarding the composition of a so-called technical cabinet and the candidate for prime minister’s position began on 7 October. The President has already met with leaders of “Coalition for Change“, Strong Georgia” and “Unity – National Movement”.
Information: The opposition forces have signed the “Georgian Charter”, which was drawn up by the President at his initiative. By signing the Charter, signatories agree to fulfill a number obligations and the “conditions” written in the Charter. If these conditions are met, then early parliamentary elections can be held in a fair and free environment. The President of Georgia must appoint a technical government to implement this action plan.
Salome Zurabishvili said that she has already chosen a candidate to fill the position of Prime Minister who “has a high level of public confidence”.
