**Ukraine’s Top Drone Commander Warns Against False Optimism**
A top Ukrainian commander has cautioned against thinking that a potential ceasefire with Russia would mean the end of the war. Robert Brovdi, also known as Madiar, is in charge of Ukraine’s drone warfare unit, “Madiar’s Birds” Regiment.
In an interview with UkrInform, Brovdi said a ceasefire would likely only be a temporary halt in fighting. He emphasized that Ukraine’s forces are strong and resilient, and should not be misled into thinking that peace is imminent.
**Drones Are Key to Modern Combat**
Brovdi highlighted the crucial role drones play in modern combat. While artillery remains important, it relies heavily on drones for accurate targeting. In challenging conditions like fog, drones provide the “eyes” that artillery units need to operate effectively.
The Ukrainian commander noted that artillery has limitations due to resource constraints, such as insufficient ammunition and overused equipment. To counter Russian attacks, Brovdi stressed the importance of deploying drones for tasks like remote mining, reconnaissance, and precision strikes.
**Drones Have Overcome Artillery in Some Ways**
Brovdi acknowledged that artillery is still significant, but it’s clear that drones have overtaken artillery in many aspects due to their adaptability and precision in modern combat scenarios. He emphasized the complementary roles of drones and artillery, while advocating for a greater reliance on drones to maintain an edge in the ongoing war.
