The Russians could advance in the direction of Avdiivka or Pokrovsk if they capture Toretsk. They would also be able to reinforce their troops in key sectors such as Kramatorsk and Sloviansk.
Russian occupiers are destroying Toretsk, in Donetsk Oblast, with all weapons available. According to UkrInform, there are no buildings in eastern Toretsk that have not been damaged by the Russians’ heavy flamethrower systems.
Ivan Tymochko of the Council of Reservists of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine told RBC-Ukraine that the Russians would be able to advance towards Pokrovsk, or in the Avdiivka directions, towards Kramatorsk, and Sloviansk. They would also be able to reinforce troops in the Chasiv Yar region.
He said that the offensive was vital for the Russians because Niu York and Toretsk were mining towns with well developed industries where coal was extracted.
“The enemy is most active at the moment in Toretsk.” Overall, the situation in Toretsk and Kramatorsk remains difficult. The situation has calmed down a little near Chasiv Yar but it can still change quickly. “Active and intense battles continue near Toretsk,” she said.
The Russians use all their firepower to attack the city.
“The city is being wiped out by artillery, and aviation.” The military officer reported that in the eastern areas, there were almost no houses left undamaged. This means that there is nowhere to seek shelter or continue fighting.
The heavy flamethrower TOS was used by the occupants to attack Toretsk today.
The officer explained this is a Russian tactic where they first heavily bombard a city, and then advance in small assault groups.
“They are advancing in a comprehensive manner, and using artillery on the front lines. While the aviation is trying destroy our cities in the back areas, they are also trying to destroy them. Kostiantynivka, for example, is constantly under airstrikes. When they completely destroy the city, they send in small assault groups who start storming our defenses and try to break through. It’s a comprehensive strategy,” she clarified.
Anastasia Bobovnikova said that the occupiers don’t take into account their losses or civilian deaths when they conduct their assaults.
