**Canada’s Trudeau: New Opportunities to End Ukraine War**
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says there may be chances to stop Russia‘s invasion of Ukraine in the coming months. He spoke at a meeting in Peru.
Trudeau reaffirmed Canada’s support for Ukraine’s victory. However, he said it would take continued help from the US, especially under the new government of President-elect Donald Trump.
Trump has promised to end the war quickly. This has made Western countries think carefully about their positions. But they are not yet sure what Trump’s approach will be.
**Trudeau Backs German Chancellor‘s Call with Putin**
Trudeau also backed a phone call by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Many officials were critical of the call, saying it was a sign of weakness and would help Russia.
However, Trudeau said countries have to talk to those they disagree with sometimes. He emphasized that Canada and its allies are still in close contact with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“We all want an end to violence in Ukraine,” Trudeau said.
