**Trump Jr. Mocks Ukraine’s President in Instagram Post**
On November 10, Donald Trump Jr., son of the newly re-elected US President, shared a meme on Instagram that mocked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The post showed an image of Zelensky with the caption “POV: You are 38 days away from losing your allowance.” The “38 days” referred to December 17, when US Electors will meet and cast their votes based on the results of the November 5 vote.
**US Aid to Ukraine in Jeopardy**
This is not the first time Trump has criticized US aid to Ukraine. He has repeatedly called for an end to US involvement in the war, even as Russia continues its advance into Ukrainian territory.
Despite this, President Joe Biden has promised to deliver the remaining $6 billion in congressionally-allotted aid to Kyiv before January 20 of next year, when Trump is set to take office.
**Russia’s Military Advance**
The situation in Ukraine remains dire. Russian forces continue their push eastward, capturing territories and intensifying aerial attacks on Ukrainian cities as winter approaches.
According to reports, Russia has amassed 50,000 troops and is using drones to attack Ukrainian targets. The Biden administration is rushing to deliver over 500 interceptors for Patriot and National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missiles (NASAMS) systems.
**Concerns Over US Support**
The prospect of Trump taking office has raised concerns among some that the US will pull out of Ukraine. Jake Sullivan, US National Security Adviser, said that President Biden would have to convince Congress and the incoming administration not to abandon Ukraine.
Dmytro Lubints, Ukraine’s Ombudsman, expressed worry over the impact on Ukrainian civilians, saying “the occupiers had no limit to their cruelty and cynicism.”
**Ukraine’s Response**
In response to Trump Jr.’s post, Ukrainian officials have stressed that decisions about the war cannot be made without their consent. Anna Belokur of The Kyiv Independent explained what Trump’s win means for Ukraine.
Josep Borrell, EU Foreign Policy Chief, also spoke out against Russian aggression, saying “we must strengthen anti-sanctions measures” to isolate Russia from imports and weaken its military capabilities.
