**Trump Picks New Defense Secretary**
President-elect Donald Trump has chosen a new leader for the US Department of Defense. Trump announced on social media that he will be naming Fox News host Pete Hegseth as his incoming Defense Secretary.
Hegseth is a veteran who served in the Army National Guard. He was an infantry captain and did multiple tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. If confirmed by Congress, Hegseth will replace current Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin when Trump takes office on January 20, 2025.
**Who Is Pete Hegseth?**
Hegseth has worked as a host on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends Weekend” show. He has also made regular appearances on the network as a contributor. Trump said he chose Hegseth because of his experience and commitment to America’s military.
