Trump Picks New US Ambassador to UN With Mixed Record on Ukraine Aid
Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has chosen Elise Stefanik as his next US Ambassador to the United Nations. He praised her in a statement saying she is “tough and intelligent” and puts America first.
Elise Stefanik’s views on helping Ukraine have been different over time. She initially supported giving more money to help the country, but then voted against a $61 billion aid package. This was because she wanted to focus on issues at home, like the border with Mexico.
The Biden administration has already promised to give Ukraine $6 billion in military aid before Trump’s second term starts. They plan to deliver this on time and fully by January 20.
