**US President Trump: Efforts to End Ukraine War “Somewhat Under Control”**
Despite a massive Russian drone strike on Kyiv, killing three people including a five-year-old girl and her father, US President Donald Trump claims efforts to end the war in Ukraine are “somewhat under control”.
In an interview with sports media outlet OutKick on March 22, Trump said he has had “very rational discussions” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He also claimed that only he can stop Putin from continuing his attacks.
**Russian Drone Strike Kills Three**
Just hours after the interview, Kyiv was hit by multiple Russian kamikaze drones, killing three people and injuring 10 others. This is despite Trump’s promise of a ceasefire in Ukraine since taking office in January.
**Talks with Russia Yield Weak Results**
Trump has been trying to broker a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine for months, but talks have yielded weak results so far. On March 18, Moscow announced it had agreed to a US-proposed 30-day ceasefire on Ukrainian energy infrastructure following a call between Putin and Trump.
However, dozens of civilians in Ukraine have been killed by Russian attacks since the partial ceasefire was implemented. The White House celebrated the agreement, but Ukrainian officials are skeptical about the effectiveness of the talks.
**US Negotiators to Meet with Russia and Ukraine**
U.S. negotiators will meet separately with Ukrainian and Russian delegates in Riyadh on March 24 to discuss the ceasefire proposal. However, Ukrainian officials have expressed skepticism that the talks will lead to any substantial results.
