He said, “We’re going to have all this money in (Ukraine) and I say, I want it back.” The US president has repeatedly claimed that the conflict would not have happened if he had been in office in 2022.
**Trump Claims Ukraine Agreed to Rare Earth Minerals Deal**
Trump also made headlines by claiming that Ukraine has “essentially agreed” to a deal on rare earth minerals worth $500 billion. However, details of such a deal remain murky, and Ukraine has only signaled its openness to developing partnerships with the US and other partners in exchange for security guarantees.
**Ukraine Has Received Billions from West**
The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing since 2022, with both sides receiving significant financial and military aid. The US Congress has allocated over $170 billion to Ukraine, which includes more than $60 billion worth of military support. In contrast, the EU and its member countries have made available around $145 billion in assistance.
**Zelensky to Meet Trump at White House**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is expected to meet US Vice President JD Vance at the Munich Security Conference and later with President Trump at the White House. The two leaders will likely discuss possible resolutions to the conflict.
**Russia Suffered Casualties in Past Day**
Russian forces suffered 1,390 casualties over the past day alone. This comes as Lithuania allocates nearly $32 million to support education for Ukrainians who have relocated to the country due to the war.
