**US Considers Lifting Sanctions to Secure Black Sea Ceasefire**
The United States is considering lifting some sanctions on Russia in order to secure a ceasefire agreement in the Black Sea. This was announced by US President Donald Trump on March 25.
Talks between Russia and the US took place in Saudi Arabia. The two countries agreed to implement a ceasefire in the Black Sea and ban strikes against energy infrastructure. To achieve this, the White House promised to help restore Russia’s access to the world market for agricultural and fertilizer exports.
However, the Kremlin has said that the ceasefire will only take effect if Western sanctions on Russian banks are lifted. These sanctions affect Rosselkhozbank and other financial organizations involved in international food trade operations.
President Trump was asked about lifting additional Russian sanctions. He replied that they were being considered, along with five or six other conditions. Moscow is also demanding that the West lift sanctions on Russian food producers and exporters, as well as on ships flying the Russian flag.
The Ukrainian government disagrees with the Kremlin’s statement. President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine believes the ceasefire should take effect immediately.
