**US President Announces New Tariffs**
On April 2, US President Donald Trump announced a new trade policy. He said that the country will charge higher tariffs on imports from many countries.
**What’s Changing?**
The new rules mean that some countries will face higher import fees. Cambodia will pay the highest fee at 49%, followed by Vietnam with a 46% tariff. The European Union and China will also face higher tariffs, at 20% and an additional 34% respectively. Ukraine will be charged a 10% tariff.
**Why Did Trump Announce This?**
The US President said that these new tariffs are necessary to strengthen the country’s economy and lower prices for consumers. He claimed that America has been unfairly taken advantage of by other countries for decades, and this is a way to level the playing field.
