Members of President Trump’s team may meet a Ukrainian delegation in Washington, D.C. during Ukraine Week in early February. This was announced by David Arakhamia, head of the Ukrainian parliament.
Arakhamia said that they are working to arrange meetings between the two sides at different levels. He made this statement on January 21.
**Peace Deal in Ukraine**
President Trump has repeated his desire to pursue a peace deal in Ukraine since taking office. However, he did not provide many details about how this would work. On January 20, he told reporters that Russian President Vladimir Putin is “destroying Russia by not making a deal.” This was after he instructed his aides to arrange a call with Putin.
**Challenges Ahead**
The US peace envoy, Keith Kellogg, was expected to visit Ukraine before Trump’s inauguration. However, he postponed the trip due to concerns about unauthorized negotiations with foreign governments. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that both Ukraine and Russia must make concessions to achieve peace. This suggests that there may be challenges in crafting a mutually acceptable agreement.
