**US Ends Pause on Intelligence Sharing with Ukraine**
The United States has “just about” ended its freeze on intelligence sharing with Ukraine, US President Donald Trump said on March 9.
Trump made the announcement aboard Air Force One. The pause on intelligence sharing was put in place after a White House argument between Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
**Russia’s Aerial Attacks**
The move to end the freeze comes as Russia continues to carry out aerial attacks on Ukraine. In recent days, Russia has launched nearly 1,200 aerial bombs, almost 870 attack drones, and over 80 missiles at Ukraine.
These attacks have left Ukrainian civilians vulnerable to deadly strikes. The New York Times reported that the freeze could affect crucial warnings about incoming Russian drones and missiles.
**US-Ukrainian Relations**
The US has been putting pressure on Ukraine to accept a peace deal with Russia, despite security guarantees. Zelensky has repeatedly stressed the importance of these guarantees to ensure the success of any future ceasefire agreement.
However, the US has not offered to provide such assurances. The Saudi Arabia talks between US and Ukrainian officials will be an opportunity for the US to assess Ukraine’s readiness to make concessions to Russia.
**Upcoming Talks**
US and Ukrainian officials are set to meet in Saudi Arabia on March 11 to discuss a potential peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia. This meeting comes at a low point in US-Ukrainian relations.
Trump expressed optimism about the talks, saying he believes Ukraine will sign a deal on critical minerals with the US. However, he also wants to see indications that Kyiv is ready for peace.
“They will sign the minerals deal but I want them to want peace … They haven’t shown it to extent they should,” Trump said.
