**Palestinian Activist to Appear in US Court**
A Palestinian student activist, whom the Trump administration tried to deport, will appear in a US court on Wednesday. The hearing is about whether the deportation was legal.
The activist, Mr Khalil, took part in a protest at Columbia University last year against the war in Gaza. A federal judge blocked his deportation earlier this week.
**Activist’s Wife Speaks Out**
Mr Khalil’s wife said that immigration agents arrested him and forced him into an unmarked car on Saturday night. She described the scene as “traumatizing”.
The woman, who is not named, said: “Watching this unfold in front of my eyes was like a scene in a movie I never signed up for.”
**Immigration Custody**
Mr Khalil has been in immigration custody since his arrest. He was first taken to a facility in New Jersey and then transferred to one in Louisiana.
The Department of Homeland Security said that the arrest was made because Mr Khalil’s activities were against US law. However, they did not provide any details.
**Accusations and Concerns**
Mr Khalil has been accused of leading a student group at Columbia University that called for Israel’s divestment and a ceasefire in Gaza. He denies these accusations.
Some people are concerned that the Trump administration is trying to silence critics by targeting non-US citizens who protest.
The Trump administration posted about Mr Khalil’s detention on social media, saying they would not tolerate anti-American activities and would deport those involved.
