**US Aims for Full Ceasefire in Ukraine Conflict**
The United States wants a complete stop to fighting in the war between Russia and Ukraine. This is according to Keith Kellogg, President Donald Trump‘s special envoy for Ukraine.
Kellogg told Fox News that both sides are close to agreeing on a ceasefire. However, he said that both Russia and Ukraine will need to make some compromises to reach an agreement. He added that “neither side is going to get everything they want.”
**Trump Staying in Touch with Leaders**
US President Trump remains in contact with the leaders of both countries: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kellogg said that Trump will use these connections to help broker an agreement.
Kellogg also expressed frustration with the slow progress being made towards a ceasefire. He wants to see a comprehensive 30-day ceasefire, which would make it harder for fighting to start again.
**Previous Agreement Failed**
The US and Ukraine had previously agreed on a full ceasefire in March. However, Russia declined to agree to this, instead asking for some exceptions. The Ukrainian government has accused Russia of breaking the agreed-upon rules, while Russia is holding out for further concessions from the West.
**US Imposes New Sanctions**
On the same day that Kellogg spoke with Fox News, the US announced new sanctions on Russian companies. However, they also removed restrictions on the wife of a close associate of President Putin.
