**US President Trump Threatens Russia Over Ukraine**
Donald Trump, the US president, has said he is “very angry” and “pissed off” with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This comes after weeks of trying to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine.
In an interview with NBC News, Trump said that Putin’s attacks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky‘s credibility made him angry. He threatened to impose a 50% tariff on countries buying Russian oil if there was no deal.
**Tariffs and Consequences**
Trump said he would put secondary tariffs on all oil coming out of Russia if they did not agree to a ceasefire. This means that other countries could face up to 50% tariffs on goods entering the US from countries still buying oil from Russia.
European leaders had been worried that Trump was getting too close to Putin during negotiations. Now, it seems like Trump is taking a stronger stance against Russia.
**Ukraine and Russia**
Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. They currently control about 20% of Ukrainian territory. Over 100,000 people have died fighting for Russia’s military since the war began.
Ukrainian President Zelensky wrote on social media that Russia is looking for excuses to keep the war going. He said there should be an appropriate response from the US and Europe.
**Trump Talks**
In other news, Trump talked about his relationship with Putin during the NBC interview. He said he had a “very good relationship” with the Russian leader, but that his anger would dissipate if Putin did the right thing.
Trump also spoke about possibly running for a third term as president. He said some people want him to do it, but that they have a long way to go.
