On October 10, the so-called Tskhinvali occupation region’s security council announced that it would restrict movement across the occupation lines in October, during Georgia‘s parliamentary elections.
The de-facto authorities‘ press service reported that “in order to ensure the security of the population in [occupied] South Ossetia and to exclude any possible provocations by the pro-Western, nationalist radical forces from Georgia, it was decided to suspend the work at the simplified border crossing point …,”.
Alan Gagloev, the head of the de facto council, also stated that “taking into consideration the information received including even from open sources, we can see that the situation in Georgia is becoming more complex” which led to the decision taken by the occupied area.
