Two Georgian Citizens Detained Illegally by Russian Forces
Russian forces detained two Georgian citizens near the occupation line in Georgia’s Gori Municipality. This happened on December 26, according to the Georgian State Security Service (SSSG).
The SSSG said it worked quickly to free the detained individuals. It also informed international partners and the Geneva International Discussions Co-Chairs about the incident.
The SSSG blamed Russia for the detention. The agency said that all destructive acts in occupied territories of Georgia are the responsibility of the occupying power, which is Russia.
This is not the first time Georgian citizens have been detained illegally by Russian forces. There have been similar incidents reported earlier this year and last year.
