Two Ukrainian journalists were attacked by Russian forces while filming a story about rescuing horses in Kharkiv Oblast.
Journalists Ksiusha Savoskina and Oleksii Nikulin were with volunteers from an animal rescue group at an abandoned farm. They had been called to the site because soldiers had spotted horses there. As they began to evacuate the animals, a Russian drone appeared. Everyone went inside a building for safety.
But then explosions happened. A car was destroyed, as well as a backpack containing camera equipment. Another explosion set fire to a nearby building. The journalists think this might have been caused by a Russian mine.
Despite the dangers, everyone involved in the rescue effort remained safe. The horses were also unharmed and are now being taken care of in Kharkiv.
This incident occurred near the town of Kupiansk, which is an important transportation hub in eastern Ukraine. Russian forces had occupied the area earlier this year but were pushed back by Ukrainian forces.
