**Government‘s FARA Law Plan**
The government in Georgia is trying to pass a law called FARA. This law is similar to the “Russian law”. Ucha Nanuashvili, head of the Center for Democracy Studies and former Public Defender, says this law will help Russia achieve its goals on Georgian soil.
**Previous Attempts Failed**
In 2023 and again in 2024, the government tried to pass FARA. But both times, they faced opposition from the people of Georgia. This year, they’re trying once more, but with a different name for the law. Nanuashvili says this is no coincidence – the goal of FARA remains the same: to help Russia on Georgian territory.
**Constitutional Concerns**
Nanuashvili stresses that civil society will not stand by and let this happen. Georgia has international obligations, including a European Convention, which this law contradicts. Nanuashvili says FARA is unconstitutional and anti-Georgian, and they will do everything to stop it from being implemented for the third time.
