UK Diplomat Speaks Out on Georgia Violence
The UK‘s ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward, has spoken out about recent violence in the country. He says it’s not acceptable for people to be hurt just because they disagree with the government.
There have been attacks on opposition politicians and journalists who were peacefully protesting. Mr. Ward is calling on the government to punish those responsible.
As a member of the Council of Europe, Georgia is expected to protect its citizens‘ rights. Mr. Ward says this is not happening.
The UK has joined other European countries in condemning the violence against peaceful protesters and media representatives.
