UK Helps Ukraine with £35 Million in Aid and Sanctions on Russia.
Ukrainians need help. Millions are struggling to get by without power, heat, or electricity. This is due to recent Russian missile strikes during a harsh winter.
The UK has come up with a plan to help. The country’s leader, Keir Starmer, announced that the UK will give £35 million in emergency aid. This money will be used to repair Ukraine’s energy grid and support those most in need. This is crucial as Russia has attacked Ukraine’s power generation capacity, leaving many without electricity.
The UK is also taking action against Russia with new sanctions. These sanctions target 20 ships that are carrying Russian oil illegally. The ships, Ocean Faye, Andaman Skies, and Mianzimu, have carried over four million barrels of oil each in 2024. Two companies, 2Rivers DMCC and 2Rivers PTE LTD, which helped trade this oil, also face sanctions.
These actions are meant to help Ukraine during a difficult time. The UK’s support is crucial as millions of Ukrainians rely on the country for aid.
