**UK Considers Sending Troops to Ukraine**
The UK Ministry of Defence is thinking about sending British troops to Ukraine. The goal would be to help train the country’s armed forces.
Defence Secretary John Healey has been in Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, talking with officials. He won’t say what they’ve discussed, but sources close to him say he hasn’t ruled out sending UK soldiers to Ukraine.
Right now, Britain is training Ukrainian troops in the UK. There’s also a small team of British Army medics teaching inside Ukraine.
Healey promised £225m more for military support to Ukraine. This includes drones, artillery shells, and air defenses. He said they’re working on how to make Ukraine stronger next year.
**UK Wants Ukraine to Be Stronger**
Defence sources say one option is sending UK troops to train Ukrainian forces. But the Defence Secretary won’t give details.
Healey told the BBC that their plan for Ukraine will be kept secret from Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. He said they’re waiting to see what US President-elect Donald Trump plans to do about the war.
**Meeting in Brussels**
There’s a meeting coming up in Brussels on Thursday. Foreign Secretary David Lammy and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend, along with EU countries and Nato representatives.
Lammy said they need to discuss what more support Ukraine needs for 2025. He added that allies across Europe should step up their help to Ukraine.
**No Troops Sent Before**
The UK hasn’t sent troops to Ukraine or enforced a no-fly zone because of the risk of being pulled into a conflict with Russia. However, individual members have supplied arms and equipment.
This was also discussed when Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer talked to Trump on Wednesday.
