Russia’s War in Ukraine: Heavy Casualties Reported
Russian forces are pushing forward with their winter offensive across multiple fronts in Ukraine. However, the human cost is getting higher every day.
According to British military intelligence, Russia suffered a new monthly war high in November 2024. On average, Russian troops were losing 1,523 soldiers or wounded per day. This is the third straight month that Russia has reported such high losses. In one day alone, on November 28, over 2,000 Russian casualties were recorded.
November 2024 was likely the most costly month for Russia in this war. The Ukrainian General Staff reported a total of 45,680 Russian casualties. This is an increase from October’s 41,980 casualties. It is also the fifth straight month that Russia has suffered more losses than before.
The high number of casualties may be due to the increased tempo of Russian operations and offensives. Russia is trying to push Ukrainian forces back on several fronts. Despite these efforts, Ukraine’s lines are still holding strong.
British military analysts predict that Russia will continue to lose over 1,000 soldiers or wounded per day in December 2024. They believe this is because Russia will keep up its dismounted infantry attacks on multiple axes despite the onset of winter.
