Russia’s Navy in Trouble: Ukraine Wins Big
The Russian Navy has been forced to leave its historic ports in Crimea. This is because Ukraine has come up with clever tactics and modern weapons that have outsmarted Russia.
Before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Russia thought it had a strong navy that controlled the Black Sea. But now, this power has been broken. Ukraine’s innovative naval warfare tactics have made it hard for Russia to dominate the waterway.
The UK Ministry of Defense says that after 1000 days of war, Russia’s naval capabilities in the Black Sea are very weak. This is because Ukraine has destroyed or damaged over 25% of major Russian warships operating in the Black Sea. One of these ships was the Black Sea Fleet flagship, the “Moskva”.
As a result, Russia’s main ships have moved from their historic base in Sevastopol to Novorossiysk in the Eastern Black Sea. Russian units also have to change their tactics and operate in different areas.
Although Russia still has some power on land, its navy is no longer as strong. Ukraine has won a big victory by outsmarting Russia’s Navy.
