According to Oleh Osiian’s statement of October 31, the first deputy head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, Oleh is currently in talks with China about expanding exports of agricultural products.
Osiian stated that Ukraine intends to establish seven new export markets and to export peas and wheat flour for livestock feed. Beef, corn, chicken, and wild-caught fish are also included in the list.
The protocols for these products are in various stages of development and approval. The pea protocol is nearing completion in Ukraine, and Chinese authorities are awaiting its consideration.
Draft protocols are also being reviewed for poultry and fish, while the protocol on wild-caught aquatic product has been approved domestically and awaits final approval from China.
China’s already strong economic ties with Russia grew stronger after Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine began on February 20, 2022.
The trade between Russia and China has increased by 121% since the year 2021, highlighting China’s role as Moscow’s economic lifeline.
