A representative of the Ukrainian government announced that Ukraine and Mauritius had signed an agreement allowing citizens to travel freely between the two countries for up to 90-days.
Taras Melnychuk said that the Verkhovna Rada’s representative to the Cabinet, Taras, confirmed that the two countries have approved an agreement regarding the mutual cancellation of visa requirements.
Melnychuk said that the agreement stipulates a visa-free travel regime for citizens of Ukraine and Mauritius who hold all types of passports for up to 90 day.
The agreement was signed on August 2024, in Port Louis (the capital city of Mauritius).
Mauritius participated in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland in July of 2024. The country signed the summit communique.
Mauritius has maintained a delicate balance diplomatically since Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine in the year 2022. Mauritius, while officially condemning the invasion of Ukraine and supporting its territorial integrity in accordance with UN resolutions has not imposed any sanctions on Russia.
The island nation has tried to preserve its economic ties, as it relies on tourism and investments from global partners.
