Norway Joins Effort to Support Ukraine’s Defense Capabilities
Norway has joined a Danish format of defense support for Ukraine. This means Norway will help fund the production of arms and military equipment in Ukraine.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that Norway will directly finance Ukrainian production facilities. This will make it possible to produce and deliver essential arms faster to Ukraine’s defense forces.
Norway is working closely with Ukraine on this effort. The country’s Ministry of Defense emphasized that its support for Ukraine is tailored to Ukraine’s needs.
During a recent visit to Oslo, Umerov and Norway’s Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram signed an agreement outlining the principles of their cooperation. This includes Ukraine proposing specific procurement projects, which are then reviewed and approved by Norwegian authorities before funding is allocated.
Norway’s support for Ukraine is part of a larger effort by Nordic countries to help Ukraine defend itself. These countries have been providing military aid, training, and advocating for Ukraine’s sovereignty on international platforms.
The Danish format was previously used to provide direct financing to Ukrainian production facilities. This allowed for the faster manufacturing and delivery of essential arms to Ukraine’s defense forces.
