Ukraine has blocked Russia’s bid to take over the presidency of the Commission for the Protection of the Black Sea Against Pollution. This was reported by the Ukraine Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection (Ukraine Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection) on 16 October.
Russia’s actions have caused serious ecological harm in the Black Sea. They have disrupted salinity levels and triggered toxic cyanobacteria, contaminated ecosystems with heavy-metals, threatened fisheries with mines and contributed to the death of at least 5, 000 endangered dolphins.

Olena Kramarenko stated during the meeting that Olena is the first Deputy Minister of Environment in Ukraine.
