Ukraine has strongly denied any allegations that it supplied -provided arms to African regions. It specifically rejected claims of drone support by Malian rebels. The denial was made in response to an article in the French newspaper Le Monde that suggested Ukrainian involvement in the training of Malian insurgents.
In a statement, the Ukrainian stressed that Ukraine had implemented a comprehensive system of monitoring and controlling weapons supplied by Western allies from the first months after ‘s full scale invasion. The ministry said that Western partners had not detected any misuse of weapons or military equipment in the two-and-a-half years since the Russian invasion.
The Ukrainian Ministry of Affairs released a statement on 14 categorically denying accusations that Ukraine was involved in supplying drones rebels in Mali. The ministry also denied claims made by senior from Mali, and other countries regarding Ukraine’s alleged ‘cooperation with terrorists’ and supplying weapons to terrorists.
Le Monde reported that Malian rebels were in Ukraine to learn to make and operate small explosive drones. The newspaper cited an alleged source close to Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate HUR who confirmed the training of Malians.
Le Monde reported that a source said the CSP Group had visited Ukraine to train, and a larger group of Ukrainian instructors went to the Sahel, where they are still.
