The fighting is reported to continue, with Russian tactics shifting away from frontal attacks and towards infiltration tactics using smaller groups.
Ukrinform reported that Ukrainian Defense Forces denied Russian social media claims that they had captured Chasiv Yar in Donetsk Oblast and Toretsk, citing Anastasiia Bobbyvnikova, spokesperson of Operational-Tactical Group “Luhansk” on Ukrainian TV, on 1 November.
Over the past year, Russia has focused on capturing Ukraine-controlled areas in Donetsk Oblast. Major attacks have been repeated near Pokrovsk and Selydove as well as other towns. Russia has suffered heavy losses, but continues to make progress despite its repeated frontal attacks.
Bobovnikova has explicitly rejected Russian claims of control over Chasiv Yar, Toretsk and other areas. She has stressed that the Russian forces are yet to cross key barriers or gain a foothold.
