Ukraine Hits Russian Fuel Convoy in Zaporizhzhia Oblast
On December 13, Ukrainian forces carried out a precise strike against a Russian fuel convoy. The attack combined explosives and HIMARS rockets to destroy the train and its cargo.
The operation was a multi-stage special effort by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). It disrupted Russian military logistics in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, destroying 40 Russian fuel tankers worth about $4 million.
Here’s what happened:
* At around 3:30 PM, an explosive device was detonated on a railway line while a fuel convoy passed through.
* The blast caused the train to derail and overturn.
* Targeted strikes were then carried out on the front and rear of the train using two M142 HIMARS rockets. This destroyed the remaining cargo and prevented its evacuation.
The attack damaged the railway, making it unusable. It also disrupted Russian fuel supplies.
This is not an isolated incident. Ukraine has been increasing its long-range drone attacks against Russian military and fuel facilities this year. Many such attacks have targeted Russian bomb warehouses, ammunition depots, fuel processing, and storage facilities deep inside Russia.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to attack Ukraine with drones, missiles, and bombs. Strikes in recent months have intensified.
On December 15, military facilities in Grozny, Chechnya, faced a drone attack. This marks the third such strike on Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov’s forces in Chechnya over the last month.
