Russia’ Air Attack Ukraine: Few Missiles and Drones Hit Targets

On December 31, Russia launched a morning air attack on Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian , used 21 missiles and 40 drones to target residential areas and civilian infrastructure.

The attack started at 20:30 on December 30. It involved six ballistic missiles, one aeroballistic missile, and eight cruise missiles. The military also launched 40 drones, including -type one-way attack drones and decoy drones from Russia’s Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Bryansk, and Millerovo directions.

successfully intercepted some of the missiles and drones. They downed six missiles, five guided aviation missiles, and 16 Shahed-type strike drones. The remaining decoy drones disappeared from radars without causing harm.

However, it seems that few Russian missiles and drones actually hit their targets. None of the six ballistic missiles or eight cruise missiles were reported to have been intercepted. The same goes for the – none hit their intended targets.

The attack was not limited to Kyiv and Shostka. The Air Force Command also mentioned that a Kh-69 missile hit Sumy Oblast, and an -radiation missile attacked Odesa at 10:30 on December 31.

Ukraine’s Air Force reported minor damage and one injury during the air attack. This is not surprising, given Russia’s systematic targeting of Ukraine’s since October 2022.
