**Man’s Emotional Plea After Three Years of Helping Ukraine**
Andy Stewart, a man from Fleet, Hampshire, has been helping Ukrainian people cross the border into Poland for three years. He recently expressed his shock and sadness that the war is still going on after such a long time.
Stewart used to live in Ukraine and returned there just days after Russia’s invasion to help. He said he had spent the last three years doing everything he could to assist those in need. Despite his efforts, he feels that the war has no purpose.
“It’s Putin’s personal ambition,” Stewart said. “I can’t believe that it’s still going on.”
**A Personal Connection**
Stewart developed a love for Ukraine during a visit over a decade ago. He described Kyiv as feeling like home and was shocked by the invasion. When friends were trapped in their basement, he helped them escape and later hosted many people fleeing the conflict.
**Others Also Helping**
Philippe Lefevre, Associate Director at the Centre for Britain and Europe, also went to Ukraine to help when the war broke out. He drove aid from Reading to Ukraine and hopes to do it again soon.
“It was a long journey,” he said. “But once there, it was like any other road.” Lefevre described Ukraine as a beautiful country with stunning landscapes and friendly people.
**A Message of Solidarity**
Both Stewart and Lefevre have been motivated by their experiences to continue helping those in need. They want the world to understand the fear and uncertainty faced by Ukrainians every day for three years.
Their stories serve as a reminder that there are still many people committed to helping others, even in the face of adversity.
