**Ukraine Joins Exclusive Club with Laser Capabilities**
Ukraine has become the fifth country to have laser weapons. The new system, called “Tryzub,” or “Trident,” allows Ukrainian forces to destroy targets at distances of over two kilometers.
The Tryzub system is powerful and can be used against Russian aircraft and other targets. According to Colonel Vadym Sukharievskyi, the Commander of the Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Unit, this new capability will help Ukraine’s armed forces.
**Boost in Domestic Weapons Production**
Ukraine has been expanding its domestic weapons production. In 2023, they tripled their overall output, and by August this year, they had doubled that number again. This means that more Ukrainians are involved in the production of military equipment.
The country has also successfully tested new drone missiles called Peklo (Hell). These missiles can travel up to 700 kilometers and fly at speeds of 700 kilometers per hour.
**Advancements in Military Technology**
Ukraine’s military is also working on a “mothership drone” program. This system carries smaller, lightweight strike drones that can be used for targeting enemy infrastructure.
Colonel Sukharievskyi highlighted the importance of this technology, saying it was truly groundbreaking. The Ukrainian colonel also mentioned that Ukraine is close to enhancing and scaling its laser capabilities.
In April, former UK Defence Secretary Grant Shapps visited a lab working on the DragonFire laser system. He indicated that Ukraine might receive prototypes of this system to help with Russian drone threats.
