**Ukraine’s Energy System Remains Intact Despite Russian Attacks**
On December 31, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that Ukraine’s energy system has been preserved despite numerous Russian attacks throughout 2024. This is according to Interfax-Ukraine reports.
**Russia Continues Targeting Residential Areas and Civilian Infrastructure**
Russian forces have continued their daily air attacks on residential areas and civilian infrastructure. Since October 2022, they have systematically targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure with missile and drone assaults. The goal of these attacks has been to disrupt civilian life, particularly during the winter months.
**Ukraine Responds with Recovery Campaign**
Prime Minister Shmyhal said during a government meeting that despite dozens of Russian attacks on their energy infrastructure, Ukraine had maintained system integrity. He also announced a large-scale recovery campaign. Ukraine has attracted over EUR1 billion in contributions from partners to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund. This fund is being used to purchase equipment and restore light and heat to people’s homes.
