Ukraine Helps Syrian Rebels, Assad Falls
Ukraine secretly supported Syrian rebels with drones and information. This helped lead to the fall of Syria‘s leader, Bashar al-Assad. Now, Ukraine is thinking about making new friends in Syria.
For many years, Ukraine and Syria didn’t talk to each other. This was because Syria said that some parts of Ukraine were not really part of it. Ukraine was upset by this and stopped talking to Syria. They also said they wouldn’t trade with Syria anymore.
But now, things are changing. A Ukrainian spokesperson said that if Syria changes its mind about Ukraine’s territory, they might start talking again. This is because the new leaders in Syria are different from the old ones.
The leader of the Syrian rebels, Hadi al-Bahra, recently announced that Assad was no longer in power. This means that after 24 years, Assad’s rule has ended.
Sources close to Ukraine’s military say that they helped the Syrian rebels by giving them drones and information. They did this because they wanted to hurt Russia and its friends in Syria.
