**25,000 Gifts Sent to Ukrainian Children**
A Christmas event in the UK has sent 25,000 gifts to children living in Ukraine. The “wrapathon” event is now in its third year and saw hundreds of volunteers gift wrap toys, books, and other donated items at events across the country.
The gifts were collected from towns such as Ipswich, Bath, Swindon, and Kempston, and will be distributed through Rotary Clubs in Ukraine. Sergej Zubaryev, who helps deliver the presents, said they bring hope and warmth to the people of Ukraine.
**A Message of Hope**
Jeremy Fish, who organized the event, hopes that 2025 will see an end to the conflict in Ukraine. “Fingers crossed, this will be the last time we need to do this,” he said. Mr Zubaryev thanked the British public for their kindness and said it shows that “God and Britain are with” them.
The gifts were sent to Ukraine on Tuesday and will bring joy to thousands of children who might otherwise feel forgotten. The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, recently stated that 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since the war escalated in 2022.
**A Year of Conflict**
This year marks two years since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The conflict has caused immense suffering and loss of life on both sides. Mr Fish’s original idea for the “wrapathon” came from his experience driving humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian border in February 2022.
