**Ukraine Receives $1 Billion from Japan and UK**
The government of Ukraine has received a major financial boost. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced that the country will get $1 billion in support from Japan and the United Kingdom.
This money comes from a World Bank program called the Development Policy Loan (DPL). It helps countries like Ukraine implement economic reforms and develop their institutions. The funds will be used to strengthen Ukraine’s economy and fund important social and humanitarian programs.
Ukraine is grateful for this help, according to Shmyhal. He thanked the World Bank, Japan, and the UK for supporting his country during a difficult time.
**Why Is This Money Important?**
The money from Japan and the UK will be used to cover some of Ukraine’s expenses on social and humanitarian programs. Most of Ukraine’s tax revenues are spent on its military efforts. This financial support is crucial in helping Ukraine fund essential services like healthcare, education, and emergency aid.
**More Financial Aid on the Way**
This $1 billion is part of a larger package of financial help for Ukraine. The World Bank recently approved over $2 billion in assistance to promote economic development in Ukraine. Another organization, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), has also agreed to provide a $1.1 billion loan to Ukraine.
Ukraine expects to get $38 billion in external financing next year to cover its budget deficit. This is $3 billion less than the country’s deficit for 2024.
