Media pro-Kremlin claims that Russia returned the remains 62 Ukrainian POWs who were allegedly aboard the Il-76 transport plane which crashed in Belgorod, Russia in January.
According to Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the latest exchange between the warring countries saw 563 of Ukraine’s fallen servicemen receive the remains of Russians in the latest exchange.
The statement on Telegram reads: “320 defenders and 89 soldiers of the Donetsk Direction, along with 154 corpses returned from Russian morgues,”

Mash, a pro-Kremlin Telegram Channel, claims that 62 of the recovered remains were Ukrainian POWs who were allegedly aboard the Il-76 transport aircraft which crashed in Russia’s Belgorod Region on 24 January. Russia has accused Ukraine of shooting down the aircraft. Kyiv, however, has not confirmed or denied the allegation.
Official sources have not confirmed the Il-76 claim, and Ukrainian authorities has not commented on this exchange.
