**Ukraine Recovers Bodies of 757 Soldiers Killed in War**
The Ukrainian government has brought back the bodies of 757 soldiers who died fighting against Russia. This was announced by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War on January 24.
**Bodies Recovered from Various Front Lines**
Of these, 451 bodies were recovered from the Donetsk sector, where intense fighting has been taking place. Other sectors where bodies were brought back include Bakhmut (71), Vuhledar (51), Luhansk (13), and Zaporizhzhia (137). Additionally, 34 bodies were repatriated from morgues in Russia.
**Geneva Conventions Observed**
The Geneva Conventions require that those killed in war be given a dignified burial. Law enforcement officials and forensic experts will work together to identify the victims as soon as possible.
**Operation Involves Government Agencies and International Assistance**
The operation to recover the bodies involved several government agencies, including the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Interior Ministry, the State Emergency Service, and the Armed Forces. The Ukrainian authorities also thanked the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance.
**Previous Repatriation Efforts**
This is not the first time that Ukraine has repatriated bodies of fallen soldiers. In December 2024, 503 bodies were brought back from various locations, mostly from Donetsk Oblast.
