Ukraine Sanctions Three Georgian Businessmen
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has imposed sanctions on three Georgian businessmen. A decree was published by the President.
Davit Yakobashvili, Alexander Japaridze, and Giorgi Japaridze are the names on the list of people who have been sanctioned.
Ukraine’s government says that Davit Yakobashvili helped Russia in some way. He is accused of helping activities that threaten Ukraine’s independence and sovereignty. The Petrocas Energy Group, which he was in charge of, was said to be transporting Russian oil into Georgia.
The Ukrainian government also claims that Alexander Japaridze and Giorgi Japaridze do business in areas that help Russia’s budget. This is the money used by Russia to fund its conflict with Ukraine. The government says they are responsible for activities that threaten or jeopardize Ukraine’s sovereignty and autonomy.
Alexander Japaridze founded an oil company called Eurasia Drilling Company, which has operations in many countries including Russia.
