Scot Killed While Serving as Ukrainian Army Medic
A 26-year-old Scot has died while serving with the Ukrainian army. Jordan Maclachlan from Ardnamurchan was a medic who volunteered to help Ukraine after Russia’s invasion in February 2022.
His family said he was killed on Friday while serving on the frontline. They are waiting for more information and have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
Mr. Maclachlan joined the Ukrainian army soon after volunteering three years ago. His family said they were proud of him helping others and that he would be greatly missed by all who knew him.
This is not the first time a Scot has lost their life while serving in Ukraine. In 2022, two other Scots died – Adam Ennis from South Lanarkshire and Jonathan Shenkin from Glasgow. Mr. Shenkin was hailed as a hero for his bravery as a paramedic.
The Foreign Office is supporting the family of Jordan Maclachlan and is in contact with local authorities. The office advises against all travel to certain parts of Ukraine and against most other travel to the country.
