Ukraine’s Air Force reported intercepting 38 Russian drones in nine oblasts, during an overnight attack 6 November.
Every night, the Russian forces launch dozens – usually Iranian designed Shahed 131 and 136 – of long-range “kamikaze drones. They also often launch several missiles at the same time. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine in October with more than 2,000 Shahed long-range “kamikaze” drones containing over 170,000 foreign components.
The aerial assault included 63 UAVs of the Shahed type and several unidentified ones launched from various locations in Russia and occupied Crimea.
Ukrainian air forces confirmed that 38 Russian UAVs were shot down in Odesa and Mykolaiv oblasts, Kyiv oblast, Sumy oblast, Kirovohrad oblast, Zhytomyr oblast, Cherkasy oblast, Chernihiv oblast, and Zaporizhzhia region.
The attack began 5 November, when Russian forces fired two Kh-59 and Kh31P guided missiles at the Odesa Oblast. They were launched from the Black Sea. The drones were launched in Russia from Bryansk and Primorsko-Akhtarsk. They also came from Orel, in Crimea, and Orel, in Russia.
The Southern Air Command reported that “ten drones were shot in the south and seven of them were over Mykolaiv Oblast.”
