As many as four regions were attacked by Russia using drones, artillery and other weapons. Casualties were reported in Sumy and Donetsk.
Ukraine’s air defense intercepted 40 of 80 Russian drones in ten regions. The majority were shot down in Odesa oblast and Kyiv. In addition, Russian attacks caused civilian casualties as well as infrastructure damage in multiple regions.
Russia continues to launch deliberate daily air strikes on residential areas, in an attempt to terrorize civilians. Every night, the Russian forces launch dozens – usually Iranian designed – Shahed 131 and 136 long-range “kamikaze drones. They also often launch several missiles.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that it shot down 41 Shahed drones of 80 launched by Russian forces early on 27 October. According to the Air Force the drones were launched by Orel, Kursk and PrimorskoAkhtarsk.
The air defense operation was conducted by anti-aircraft missiles, aviation, electronic war units, and mobile firing groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine. The drones were detected in ten oblasts with the most success recorded in Odesa-Kyiv region.
Also, 32 Russian drones reportedly “located lost” – meaning crashed – while one headed towards Belarus. Air Force figures suggest at least six Russian drones may have reached their target.
